The Faculty of Natural Sciences invites applications for the position of a
Full Professor (W3) of Biotechnology
at the Institute of Food Science and Biotechnology to be filled in the winter semester 2026.
The holder of the professorship will research the production of innovative products based on microbial fermentation using the latest biotechnological methods. A central concern of the professorship is research into microbial enzyme systems and their effect and use in food processing and nutrition. Other research focuses include the development of alternative and/or recombinant proteins (precision fermentation), the production of fermented foods, as well as future-oriented climate-neutral food production. The Full Professor of Biotechnology offers outstanding networking potential for cooperative research projects and initiatives with the various food science and biotechnology departments, nutritional sciences, food chemistry, and biology. The future post holder is expected to offer courses in German and English in the fields of biotechnology, biochemistry, and experimental biocatalysis and to be particularly committed to the English-language Master's program in Biotechnology.
We are looking for a person with a proven track record of internationally visible research and high-ranking, relevant publications, as well as the ability to acquire third-party funding.
The position offers attractive conditions for first-time full professor appointees. Prerequisites for applicants are habilitation or an equivalent research and teaching record which may have been established during a Junior or Assistant Professorship.
The advertised position is tenured. If appointed as full professor for the first time, the University of Hohenheim reserves its right to probationary employment. With equal qualifications, preference will be given to candidates with disabilities.
