The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Freiburg invites applications for the

Full Professorship (W3) for Medical Imaging Informatics

in the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology (Medical Director: Prof. Dr. F. Bamberg) to be filled as soon as possible. The future holder of this position will represent the field of medical imaging informatics in research and teaching and will lead the focus within the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and the Medical Center- University of Freiburg. Major focus is the development and implementation of advanced post-processing of imaging data i.e. by employing artificial intelligence, optimization of digital workflows, including standardized reporting, as well as integration of non-imaging biomedical information for improved diagnosis. With the professorship the field of translational imaging and data utilization across the entire Medical Center as well as the cross-sectional area of medical data science within the faculty will be advanced. This includes close interdisciplinary collaboration with all adjacent Departments at the Medical Center - University Freiburg and integration in existing scientific priority areas, such as the DNPM/ZPM, DKTK, CCCF, and NAKO as well as DFG, BMBF and EU Projects. Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree in informatics and/ or medical imaging and/or medicine and if applicable for involvement in patient care a board certification (Facharztanerkennung) in radiology, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected. The position is tenured according to § 50 para 1 LHG. Reference is made to the regulations of § 49 para 2a LHG.
