The position is part of the externally funded initiative of the state of Hessen, called „Hessian.AI“ and is fixed term according to § 2 WissZeitVG and § 72 HessHG, including the opportunity for further scientific qualification, at the professorship for Predictive Deep Learning for Medicine and Healthcare at the Department of Medicine. If the requirements of the collective agreement are met, remuneration will be in accordance with pay group 13 TV-H.

As long as the maximum permissible duration of a fixed-term contract is not exceeded, you will be employed for a period of 3 years.

Your tasks at a glance

• Independent scientific work in the research field of machine learning in medicine and healthcare with a focus on deep learning on biomedical data (multi-omics) as part of the third-party funding initiative Hessian.AI
• Own scientific and university didactic qualification (goal: doctorate), scientific services in research and teaching according to § 72 HessHG
• Assumption and participation in internal and external teaching and training measures, as well as workshops within the framework of the third-party funded project Hessian.AI and associated projects such as DenBi
• Independent development of scientific questions in close cooperation with the doctoral supervisor and, if applicable, project partners
• Publication and presentation of research and project results at scientific conferences and in scientific publications in English

Your qualifications and skills

• Completed Master´s or equivalent university degree in data science, mathematics, computer science, bioinformatics or a comparable field of study
• Previous knowledge in the field of statistics and machine learning
• Experience with methods in the field of graph neural networks, transfer learning or transformer architectures is a plus
• Furthermore, you have experience in supervising students and in teaching
• Very good knowledge of the English language
• Ability to work independently and autonomously as well as in a team
