Professorship (W3) for Sociology with a Focus on Women鈥檚 and Gender Studies
at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The civil servant or public employee position will start as soon as possible. The successful candidate will have a strong international reputation in the field of feminist social theory and will represent a theoretically and empirically sound sociology of gender relations in research and teaching. Willingness to take on a leading role at the Cornelia Goethe Centrum is expected. Goethe University was recently successful in acquiring two clusters of excellence and, as a member of the Rhine-Main Universities (RMU), will submit a joint application in funding line two of the Excellence Strategy. The potential candidate is willing to participate in ongoing and future research projects at Goethe University and in the RMU. Existing collaborations - such as with the Sigmund Freud Institute, the Institute for Social Research - will be built upon and should be intensified. Based on extensive teaching experiences, we expect a high level of teaching commitment (also in English) in all degree programs of the Faculty, especially in the BA minor Gender Studies. Goethe University has set itself the goal of further internationalizing the study program and teaching, so that participation in the internationalization of curricula and courses is expected. The professorship is also involved in teacher training; thus didactical experience and concepts are also welcome. Outstanding experiences in the acquisition of third-party funded projects is a prerequisite for the position. Experience in working in the context of cooperative research (e.g. SFB, Research Training Groups) is desirable. The successful candidate will be required to participate in the academic self-administration. In addition to the general provisions of employment law, the prerequisite for an appointment as professor are further academic achievements after the doctorate (e.g., habilitation, habilitation equivalent). The formal hiring requirements are defined in sections 67 and 68 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
