The professorship represents Spanish-speaking and French-speaking literatures and cultures, covering their entire spectrum in teaching and research, but especially Francophone and Latin American Studies. A research focus on contemporary literatures and a focus on literary translation/literary transfer is also desireable. The professorship participates in the interdisciplinary research networks of the department as well as in the institute's Bachelor, teacher training and Master degree programmes (including particularly the Master ‘Moving Cultures’) and is involved in the development of new study curricula. An above-average doctorate, habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements are required. Experience in the acquisition of third-party funding is expected. The professorship is also involved in teacher training; experiences in and concepts for teaching the scientific contents in question in schools are welcome. Regarding third mission and knowledge transfer, cooperations with Frankfurt’s numerous cultural and scientific institutions are a plus. A close collaboration within the Rhine-Main Universities (RMU) is possible. The formal hiring requirements are defined in sections 67, and 68 of the Hessian Higher Education Act (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
