Scientist (f/m/d), PhD position position on the development of automated segmentation and analysis of imaging datasets
The ERC-funded Synergy project “NanoX: Nanoscale X-ray tissue imaging: understanding the pathophysiology of hepatitis E infection” combines the expertise of a diverse team with synergistic skills in infectious disease, physics, engineering, and structural biology to pioneer several technological innovations. At the heart of the project is the development of novel integrative approaches to assessing structural changes in soft X-ray tomography data in correlation with traditional medical assays.

You will have the following tasks:
- Development and application of algorithms for automatic image segmentation Implementation of workflows for big data management and data integration Conduct quantitative image analysis and statistical evaluations Work closely with experimental partners to coordinate analysis and data requirements Dissemination of research results through presentations at internal seminars / workshops and international conferences, with particular emphasis on the publication of papers on the research topic in peer-reviewed journals
Personal qualification
- A successfully completed Master in computational physics, bioinformatics, computer science, data science, or a related field
- Basic knowledge and ideally initial practical experience in quantitative image processing, statistics, and big data management
- Proficiency in programming languages and software tools
- Ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary manner, particularly with industrial partners and research teams
- Fluent written and spoken English skills
