The Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF) analyzes the causes of international and intrastate conflicts. As one of the leading peace research institutes in Europe, we combine interdisciplinary basic research with knowledge transfer to the public, the media and policymakers. Since 2009, PRIF has been a member of the Leibniz Association, a national umbrella organization of outstanding non-university research institutes in Germany. PRIF is headquartered in Frankfurt and has a branch office in Berlin. More than 100 employees from research, administration and science communication contribute to PRIF's success. We are looking for two new colleagues to join our Research Department II 鈥淚nternational Institutions鈥� starting in September 2025:Two researchers (predocs) (m/f/d) in part-time (65 %), in the Research Group 鈥淧eacekeeping and Conflict Management through the United Nations,鈥� in Salary Group 13 TV-H*, for the duration of 3 years (acc. to. 搂 2 Paragraph 2 WissZeitVG**).
Your responsibilities include:- Implementation of a PhD project in the area of peace operations and conflict management with a focus on the role of the United Nations
- Presenting research findings at international academic and policy meetings
- Assistance in organizing conference panels, field visits, and relevant events for the research group
- Contributing to promoting the influence of the research group in Europe and the world more broadly
- Participation in PRIF鈥檚 bodies of self-administration. Central committees communicate in English
- An academic degree with a final grade of 2,5 or better (acc. to the German grading system) that grants eligibility for the pursuit of a doctorate in International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, Sociology, Development Studies or another relevant discipline
- Academic interest in the fields of global governance, UN conflict management, international institutions, and peace and security
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment
- Willingness to present research to the political and general public
- Good spoken and written command of English and a willingness to learn German during the time of employment
- A motivated, multi-cultural team of international researchers
- Multi-faceted research work that includes fundamental academic research, science communication, and political consultancy
