The Faculty of Biology and Psychology at the University of ³Òö³Ù³Ù¾±²Ô²µ±ð²Ô invites applications for a temporary professorship with civil servant status (grade W1 NBesO) with tenure track (grade W2 NBesO) at the Institute of Microbiology and Genetics at the earliest possible date:
W1 Professorship with tenure track to W2 in Microbial Genetics (f/m/d)
The successful candidate will initially be appointed for a period of three years. If the interim evaluation is positive, the employment contract will be extended for another three years. Transfer to a permanent professorship (W2) shall take place after another positive evaluation without the position being readvertised.The professorship will be integrated into the field of microbiology/genetics regarding research and teaching as well as basic research and allocated to the faculty focus area of molecular biosciences. In terms of research, the professorship will focus on innovative functional research in the field of molecular biology and biochemistry, for example through analyses of complex molecular networks of eukaryotic or prokaryotic microorganisms. For this purpose, the use of state-of-the-art methods for data collection and/or analysis is desirable. We expect collaboration with the existing research networks and planned research initiatives of the faculty in particular in the focus area of molecular biosciences with the connection to the ³Òö³Ù³Ù¾±²Ô²µ±ð²Ô Center for Molecular Biosciences (GZMB). We further expect the willingness to conduct interdisciplinary research. Beyond that, the post holder will be expected to set a sustainable research focus by presenting a future-oriented concept that will constitute the foundation for multidisciplinary collaborative research.
The post holder will be expected to participate in the undergraduate teaching in Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes of the Faculty of Biology and Psychology, in particular in the Bachelor’s degree programmes in Biology and Biochemistry, as well as in the Master’s degree programmes in Molecular Life Sciences und Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. The University of ³Òö³Ù³Ù¾±²Ô²µ±ð²Ô is committed to research-oriented teaching.
Appointment requirements are stipulated by Article 30 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act in the most current version of that law. As a rule, applicants who have obtained their doctorate from the University of ³Òö³Ù³Ù¾±²Ô²µ±ð²Ô can only be considered for a junior professorship if after the completion of the doctoral thesis they have transferred to another university or worked for a minimum of two years in research elsewhere. The University of ³Òö³Ù³Ù¾±²Ô²µ±ð²Ô is a Public Law Foundation and thereby entitled to award professorships. Details will be provided upon request.
