Founded in 2018, RAPSK is a professional membership association supporting professionals involved in the regulation of Health Products & Technologies (HPTs) in Kenya. Its mandate focuses on regulatory compliance, advocacy for best practice and continuous professional development, with a vision of becoming Kenya’s leading authority in HPTs regulation.

With more than 5,000 members countrywide, RAPSK brings together a significant community of professionals operating within Kenya’s pharmaceutical and broader health-products regulatory ecosystem. The organisation is affiliated with and connected to key industry and professional bodies, including the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK), TOPRA, RAPS, the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, and KAPI Kenya.

The partnership will create opportunities for RAPSK members to access relevant higher education programmes offered through Unicaf, while also supporting knowledge exchange and professional development through initiatives such as joint webinars, masterclasses and targeted advisory support.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr John Mwangi, Chairman of RAPSK, highlighted the importance of the partnership in supporting regulatory excellence and continuous professional development across Kenya’s health-products sector.

“Today marks a significant milestone in our collective effort to strengthen regulatory excellence and continuous professional development in Kenya’s health products and technologies sector. RAPSK’s vision is to be Kenya’s leading authority in HPTs regulation, and partnerships like this one with Unicaf are central to that ambition. Through this MoU, we are creating a structured pathway for our members to access high-quality educational programmes. Unicaf University Proudly Hosts Inter-University Youth Debate /news-and-events/press-release/unicaf-university-proudly-hosts-inter-university-youth-debate/ Tue, 08 Sep 2026 11:16:32 +0000 /?post_type=news-and-events&p=36365 proudly hosted the Inter-University Youth Debate Championship on August 28, bringing together students from higher education institutions across the country, including DMI University, Exploits University, University of Lilongwe, and of course Unicaf University, Malawi, for competitive debate centred on youth unemployment and the future of work.

With the motion, ‘This House believes that entrepreneurship is a more realistic solution to youth unemployment than formal employment in developing countries’, the debate provided a valuable platform for students to demonstrate their critical thinking, research, public speaking, argumentation, and teamwork skills, as well as their ability to engage constructively with opposing perspectives, while addressing important pathways to addressing youth unemployment within developing economies.

The competition consisted of two semi-final debates, followed by the Grand Final. Judges from the participating universities assessed each debate, ensuring an objective adjudication process and broad institutional representation. Participants were evaluated based on several criteria, including argument and content, evidence and research, analysis and rebuttal, structure and organisation, delivery and communication, as well as teamwork and coordination.

The Grand Final was contested by DMI University and Exploits University, with both teams presenting strong arguments and demonstrating commendable preparation and confidence. DMI University emerged as the winner however, receiving the first-place prize of MK300,000, while runners-up, Exploits University, received MK200,000. Unicaf University, Malawi took third place, and was awarded MK100,000 in prize money.

The leadership programme brought together emerging leaders for a day of learning, mentorship and inspiration, reinforcing both organisations’ shared commitment to developing future-ready leaders capable of driving positive change within their communities and organisations.

The event commenced with a warm welcome from Master of Ceremonies Ms Valerie Kalinso, who introduced participants to Unicaf University and its wide range of academic . Welcoming remarks were then delivered by Dr Clement Chela, Dean of the School of Health and Applied Sciences, who highlighted the importance of continuous learning and leadership development in today’s rapidly evolving world.
