Unicaf University and Malawi Institute of Tourism Sign MoU to Expand Tourism Education Pathways

has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the, establishing a strategic partnership aimed at creating new academic pathways for tourism professionals and diploma holders seeking to advance their qualifications.

The partnership strengthens Unicaf University’s commitment to expanding access to flexible, higher education opportunities while reinforcing its presence within Malawi’s tourism and hospitality education sector.

The MoU signing ceremony brought together representatives from both institutions, including Dr Robert Ridley, Vice-Chancellor of Unicaf University, and Dr Wilfred Masebo, Dean of the School of Business and Management. Representing the Malawi Institute of Tourism was its Executive Director, Mrs Patel.

Through this collaboration, Unicaf University and MIT will work together to develop articulation pathways that enable MIT diploma holders to progress towards studies at Unicaf University. The partnership will provide opportunities for learners with existing qualifications in tourism and related fields to enhance their academic credentials and expand their career prospects.

Speaking on the significance of the partnership, representatives from both institutions highlighted the shared commitment to supporting lifelong learning, strengthening professional development, and creating opportunities that respond to the evolving needs of Malawi’s tourism and hospitality industry.

The collaboration will also explore joint academic initiatives, promotional activities, and other areas of mutual interest, further enhancing cooperation between the two institutions.

The signing of the MoU represents an important milestone in Unicaf University’s ongoing efforts to build meaningful partnerships with leading organisations across Africa and to provide accessible, high-quality education opportunities tailored to the needs of local communities and industries.
